Week 7 Build

I am the sanding queen!

Accomplishments: This week I did so much sanding it was crazy! To start the week I sanded my side dots flush with the fingerboard with a sanding block. I then continued the sanding phenomena with doing the “shoe shining” method. I clamped the neck upside down on the table and took a piece of sandpaper and placed ducktape on the back to prevent the sandpaper from ripping and just like you shine a shoe I went up and down the neck to smooth out the back side. We also went along the side of the neck to round out the edges. I also used a random orbital sander to smooth the flat surface of the headstock to remove the machine made indents when shaping the initial figure. To end the week I increased the sanding beam grit to 400 on the fingerboard and will continue to increase to get a nice smooth surface

Tools: Sanding block, random orbital sander, sanding beam

Learned: This week I learned that as the grit number in sandpaper goes up, the smoother the surface will be
